i am looking for a solution to use the Metro UI as site admin. iam only the site admin for my team sharepoint in moss 2007.

any ideas here?

For the love of God :) I can't figure this out.
I need to change the size of the "sideColumn" and therefore also decrease the margin of "rightpanel". I found and modified the CSS in style.css and the "sideColumn" resized accordingly, but there this inline CSS override:

.rightpanel {
margin: 0px 20px 0px 272px !important;
clear: right;
}

claimed to be somewhere in "Home.aspx" and I just cant find it :((

Wouldn't kill them to put this in a text file, would it? Some installation instructions would've been handy, as would a warning that when you activate it you're going to set your site to use this template by default!

Bearing in mind that I did this for 2010 and the commands for 2013 may be slightly different...

First off, install on the server. I ran the following 2 commands in a Sharepoint command prompt:

Add-SPSolution "<c:\path_to_downloaded_file>\LifeInSharePoint.Metro.wsp"
Install-SPSolution -Identify lifeinsharepoint.metro.wsp -Force -GACDeployment -AllWebApplications
iisreset

Okay, so that's 3 commands and the iisreset isn't probably necessary.

Now go to your top-level SharePoint site, Site Settings and then Site Collection Features.
You're looking for "SITE.LifeInSharePoint.Metro" - Activate that and then panic as it reset the site master pages to use the new one. Head back to "Look and Feel", "Master Page" to put your master back to the one it was before.

Now what do I do with it? Can't find any installation instructions on this site or the web.

I have been through the master page for the template and found that in order to change the color of the template you need to modify the blue.css file found at \Webserver\c$\Program Files\Common Files\Microsoft Shared\Web Server Extensions\14\TEMPLATE\LAYOUTS\LifeInSharePoint.Metro\css. Once inside the file you can modify the “color:#xxxxxx” tag to the color you want.

My question is, What is referencing the Blue.css file for the template? There is no reference to the css file in the LifeinsharePoint.Metro master page. Anyone have an idea?

Instead of modifying the Bluee.css file I would rather duplicate it and reference the modified file from the calling source.

New Post: Quick Launch not respecting Navigation settings

Hi,

I have managed to partially solve this using a fix posted in the the issue tracker. (https://lifeinsharepoint.codeplex.com/workitem/15161)

The only issue I have now is that Headings do not show properly, they just show as text and are unclickable. The items under the headings in the Navigation settings do not show up. They do show however if the headings have a link.

Anyone experienced this? or found a way to add a quick launch heading without having to add a link to it?

Hi,

I have an issue where the quick launch is not respecting the navigation choices in site settings.

Many of the subsites will show all of the pages even if 'Show Pages' is not selected and will still show even if they are 'Hidden'.

I am using the sandbox version of the theme.

Has anyone else encountered this issue? If so, how did you remedy it?

I got below message when trying to Activate LifeInSharePoint.Metro.wsp solution. The LifeInSharePoint.Metro.Sandbox.wsp is activating fine but no other user can access the site.

This solution contains invalid markup or elements that cannot be deployed as part of a sandboxed solution. Solution manifest for solution '768bf7b2-ce06-4b93-aebe-e2d86b060a96' failed validation, file manifest.xml, line 10, character 4: The element 'Solution' in namespace 'http://schemas.microsoft.com/sharepoint/' has invalid child element 'TemplateFiles' in namespace 'http://schemas.microsoft.com/sharepoint/'. List of possible elements expected: 'FeatureManifests, ActivationDependencies' in namespace 'http://schemas.microsoft.com/sharepoint/'.

After some digging in the code I change it to display the Icon.

At the moment it is only a quick and dirty workaround.

1. In MetroThemeControl.cs Line 148 it never enters because GlobalUseThemeIcon is never set on true.
There a control option in the interface is needed so you can activate the use of the Icon.

2. In LifeInSharePoint.master you have to change an attribute in Line 370.
LogoImageUrl=web.SiteLogoUrl

Hi,

I deployed the solution.

I can change the color theme but the siteIcon stays the same. It is always the Blue siteIcon.

The .css is changing if I change the color theme.

What can I do?

Hi,

is there any add. restriction with user rights. I have installed promoted links and it works perfect with my user!

But looks strange / somehow destroyed with a user with only viewer rights!

The promoted links are not shown as boxes!

PS: have comparable effect with 2013 SP Branding with 2010!
Page works perfect with my user, but shows an error message with restricted rights user.

It is a SP2010 Server Environment!

I've deployed and activated the promoted links solution. When I go to create a new list I get the following error:

"Save Conflict

Your changes conflict with those made concurrently by another user. If you want your changes to be applied, click Back in your Web browser, refresh the page, and resubmit your changes."

It creates the list despite the error but I don't see any of the options shown. Just looks like a normal list. Am I missing something or is this caused by the error?
